# Passport

> Setting up Passport Software's point of sale to take card payments through Mojo Payments.

Passport takes card-present payments through the [Mojo Payments CLI](/cli/overview), which it runs on each register
for every payment. Passport calls the CLI as `rCharge.exe`; the Mojo Payments CLI's Passport setup includes it under
that name.

## What you need

* POS Gateway on at the location, and a **register key** for each register's terminal
  ([POS Gateway for merchants](/merchants/pos-gateway)).
* The register's **setup download**, from the portal when the key is created ([Installing the CLI](/cli/install)).

## Each register

<Steps>
  <Step title="Install the CLI">
    Unzip the register's setup download into the folder Passport runs `rCharge.exe` from (Passport's support can
    confirm the folder for your installation). It contains `mojo.exe`, the same program as `rCharge.exe`, and its
    `appsettings.json`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the key in Passport">
    In Passport's card processing settings, where it asks for the CardPointe username and password:

    | Passport field | Enter |
    | - | - |
    | CardPointe username | the key id (`pgk_…`) |
    | CardPointe password | the key's secret (`pgs_…`) |
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the MID and terminal">
    Passport sends the location's **MID** and the register's terminal serial (**HSN**). The key only works with the
    terminal it was made for.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test">
    Run a small card sale from Passport and void it. If it fails, the message Passport shows is listed in
    [Errors](/api/errors).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Tips and signatures

Passport asks for a tip or a signature on each sale as its own settings say; the location's
[terminal settings](/api/terminal-settings) decide whether the terminal actually shows them.
