# Team and roles

> Inviting people, what each role allows, and the account Owner.

## Inviting someone

On **Settings → Team**, use **Invite someone**: their email and a role. They're emailed a link that lasts 7 days;
whoever signs in with that address joins with the role you chose.

You can only give roles whose permissions you hold yourself across the whole business.

## Roles

A **role** is a named set of permissions. **Settings → Roles** lists them:

* **Predefined** roles (Owner, Admin and the rest) are set by Mojo Payments and gain new permissions automatically as
  features are added.
* **Custom** roles are yours to create, with exactly the permissions you choose.

Someone can have several roles; they can do anything any of their roles allows. A role can apply to the whole business
or to one location only.

## Disable or remove

* **Disable** stops someone signing in but keeps their roles, so you can turn them back on later.
* **Remove** takes them out completely.

## The Owner

Every account has exactly one **Owner**, with full control. The Owner can't be disabled or removed. To hand ownership
to someone else, the Owner uses **Make Owner**; Mojo Payments can also change the Owner, for example if they've left.
