# Settings

> appsettings.json, beside the program.

The CLI reads `appsettings.json` from the folder the program is in.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| `BaseURL` | The POS Gateway's address. Leave it as `posgateway.paymentsmojo.com`. |
| `Port` | `443`. |
| `Directory` | Where result files are written. Empty: relative to the folder the CLI runs in. A full path in `-f` always wins. |
| `runMode` | `0` normal; `1` writes a diagnostic log on every run (see [Troubleshooting](/cli/troubleshooting)). |

If `appsettings.json` is missing or can't be read, the CLI stops without writing a result file.
